Social and emotional support is an important focus of TVUSD. Wellness centers are safe spaces for students to come as they are and receive support and guidance. At the elementary level, these staffed centers can be located in a designated classroom. The space should be furnished to address their unique needs, to self regulate, talk to a caring adult, or to access manipulatives that provide various calming activities.

At the secondary level, this could be located within the counseling center but with a separate entry from the administrative offices.  The intention is to provide a student-focused, calming area with comfortable seating where students can self-regulate. Visibility into the area from counseling offices shall be provided for supervision and to facilitate conversations as needed.

Lighting should be adjustable and dimmable.
